The SolarTransit high-powered LED solar lighting system comes complete with solar power assembly, fixture, bracket, and all mounting hardware. SEPCO can also provide a pole to meet wind load specifications.
-
The SolarTransit solar power assembly ranges from 30 Watts to 150 Watts, with the size of the battery assembly allowing for a minimum of five days autonomy. The solar power assembly is sized according to installation location and takes into consideration local weather conditions.
-
The Transit fixtures used in a transit system vary depending on the lighting requirements and come complete with LEDs and drivers used to operate the fixture from the solar-charged batteries. The SolarTransit fixtures are typically the RWL and LSQ fixtures, however, other fixture lines are available for project needs.
-
The SolarTransit's systems can require additional options such as special roof mounting, signs, etc.
-
The SolarTransit system mounts to any round pole with a minimum diameter of 4", allowing the solar to face south while not restricting the direction of fixture installation. The SolarTransit can be purchased complete with a pole for mounting the solar lighting system. Poles are available in aluminum, steel, fiberglass composite, or concrete and are anchor base or direct burial. All poles provided by SEPCO meet local AASHTO wind load requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What information do I need for a complete solar lighting design?
To complete a solar lighting setup, some information needs to be gathered. This includes data such as operation requirements (e.g., dusk to dawn, dimming, motion sensing, etc.).
We also need data points such as light level or lumen output requirements to ensure we are providing the required light output.
Finally, the project location is needed so we can determine the availability of sunlight and the length of night to correctly size the solar power assembly to operate the light as needed.
What is the lifespan of a SolarTransit solar lighting system?
All of our solar lighting systems are designed to operate in the field for 25+ years with minimal maintenance. The only component that requires regular maintenance is the battery, which is replaced every 5+ years.
All other components have a lifespan of 15 or more years with the solar panel life of 25 or more years.
The batteries are also fully recyclable and non-hazardous unlike the batteries from many other solar lighting systems on the market.
Where are the prices for the SolarTransit solar lighting system?
We do not list our prices because each of our systems is uniquely crafted to fulfill specific project requirements. Rather than offering a generic solution, we deliver a solar lighting system tailored to meet all necessary criteria and appropriately sized for optimal performance at the installation site.
Can I use the SolarTransit to retrofit my existing lights?
The response is two-part. Yes, the SolarTransit is designed to reach the same brightness levels as traditional electric lighting. However, the existing poles and foundations cannot be reused. The solar power assembly adds considerable weight and EPA that standard light poles are not built to support. Thus, the poles are replaced to ensure structural integrity for the solar lighting system.
Does the SolarTransit come with Smart Controls?
Yes, we offer control options that can be managed via Bluetooth or WiFi. These are particularly beneficial when you need to oversee a large number of systems or when the system is situated in a very remote area.
However, smart controls are not always necessary; they are often complicated accessories that go unused. Most standard solar lights simply need controls to switch the system on and off, and nothing beyond that.
Talk to your solar lighting specialist about the various options available and see if a smart controller would be a good fit.
Will the SolarTransit work in extreme weather conditions?
Yes, the SolarTransit system operates in extreme weather conditions. Our systems are designed with a minimum of five nights backup, meet wind load ratings of 180+ MPH wind loads, utilize marine grade aluminum with stainless steel fasteners for coastal and salty climates, and our batteries perform to -40° c/f, ensuring that your light will operate no matter what conditions are thrown at it.
