Solar Lighting for Government and Military Projects

Solar LED lighting systems can be used for many projects around government and military sites, including for streets, parking lots, parks, pathways, signs, flags, and much more.

Learn about how solar lighting can be utilized, helping military and government facilities save money and become more sustainable for our future.

Increased Safety

Increase your military or government facility's safety and security, especially from natural disasters and blackouts. Solar isn't affected by many of these issues and can be a reliable source of light and power. That way, no matter what is thrown at you, you know that your site can depend on the lights.

Reduce Environmental Impact

Utilizing solar LED lighting systems for your government or military facility reduces your impact on the environment by lowering your energy requirements while also lowering the installation impact on the surrounding area.

Reduce Costs

Installation, maintenance, and utility costs are all associated with lighting. Using solar eliminates the utility costs, while also reducing maintenance and installation costs. No additional wiring, underground utilities, high voltage lines, or the like is required. With solar, you just set the pole and forget it, with the first maintenance five years out in most cases, sometimes longer.

Streets and roadways illuminated by solar LED lighting systems provide military and government facilities with a renewable way to provide illumination. Solar is the perfect choice in areas where the grid power doesn't exist, like in rural or remote areas, and it can also decrease their dependency on utilities in central areas.

Parking Lots

Government and military facility parking lots require illumination for people moving around at night to provide added safety and security. Solar can fill the gap when traditional grid power doesn't exist at a site, or the facility is looking to increase its safety without increasing utility costs.

Flags

Government and military facilities have flags installed across a site. Not every spot has access to the grid power. Solar allows for the Flag Code to be adhered to when it comes to lighting. The solar lighting system should be sized to maintain continuous illumination from dusk to dawn, even on the longest night of the year. See how SEPCO stands up to the test.

Signs

Government and military entrance, directional, and monument signs are sometimes located in very remote areas outside the grid extension. Solar can quickly fill in and provide power for internal LED signs or power a floodlight or two, or four, to illuminate a large monument sign. Solar has even been used for many other types of signs, such as banners, billboards, and more.

Parks & Playgrounds

Parks are a great way to create a community space, especially on a military site. Illuminating these spaces after dark can extend the time when members can use the area, or for security purposes after closing. Parks and playgrounds can be a great place to utilize solar lighting systems as they do not require traditional grid power installation, which can disturb the surrounding natural areas.

Pathways and Walkways

Government and military facilities are very large complexes with many pathways and walkways between them. Illuminating these for nighttime walkers or people completing their early morning PT, provides visibility and safety for everyone. Solar can ensure that needs to move around the area.

Area Security

Security lighting plays a huge part in the safety and security of people and property at Government and Military facilities. The lights can be installed along perimeters and in remote locations and community spaces around an area. Off-grid solar allows these remote locations to be well-lit while not being affected by traditional grid issues.
